Q: How much does it cost?

A: Please look at the rental rates page for our current rental costs.

Q: How many people does the camp sleep?

A: Currently the camp sleeps 89 People for most of the year, however during our summer camping season (June-August) the Staff Trailer is unavailable which means we can sleep 73 people. You may also bring RVs/Trailers and Tents for more sleeping capacity. For more information about the accommodations at Camp Kannawin please visit our Accommodations page.

Q: Do I need insurance?

A: We require all groups to have a valid proof of group/event insurance to rent Camp Kannawin. If you do not already have this, you can obtain this through various providers. Learn more about this at the Rental Rates Page.

Q: Can I go Swimming in the Lake?

A: You can go Swimming, Canoeing, Kayaking, and much more in the lake as a part of your rental. However, we do require that all rental groups have a up to date certified Lifeguard present while using the waterfront. If you do not have this we can provide one, you can book this while booking your rental.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: It depends on what your doing. We provide the buildings & property, firewood, and basic sports equipment. For an additional fee, you can use our canoes, AV equipment, catering. However, we do not provide bedding, any food, water toys, and toiletries. Please remember we are not a hotel, we are a camp. Q: How far away am I from the nearest store?

A: You are only 5-10 minutes away from Sylvan Lake. They have a Walmart, Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, Urgent Care, and much more. If you need more than Sylvan Lake, Red Deer is only 25 Minutes away.

Q: When is Check In and Check Out?

A: Check In is at 7:00 PM and Check Out is at 1:00 PM, unless otherwise arranged with our Rental Coordinator.

Q: Are the Cabins Heated?

A: All of our buildings are heated, although we leave the furnaces off in the summer to ensure a comfortable sleep.

Q: Is the Camp Accessible?

A: While we try to be accessible, the only building on site fully wheelchair accessible is the Ruby Walker Centre. We have a ramp leading into the building, and a stair lift leading into the basement.

Q: Where can I Park?

A: You can park in the parking lot up by the Ruby Walker Centre. We would prefer people to only park there to prevent damage to our septic field and to prevent the roadway from being blocked.

Q: How can I pay for My Rental:

A: You can pay upon departure or up to two weeks after your rental ends. Payment is accepted via: Debit, Credit, Cash, Cheque, or Interac E-Transfer.

Q: Are Day Rentals Available:

A: Yes, you can rent the camp for just the day. It is perfect for events like picnics, workshops, and much more. The cost is $8/per person plus any additional add-ons.

Q: Is there WiFi?

A: Yes there is, it is Pay Per Use. Simply upon arrival connect to “Kannawin Guest”, and input you Credit Card, and your good to go. Happy Surfing!

Q: Is there a Deposit Required?

A: Yes there is, it is a $50 Non-Refundable Booking fee taken upon booking. The only other deposit required is a $1000 Refundable Damage Deposit taken upon arrival. This will be held on a valid credit card and be released if no damages are found.

Q: Do we have to use your Caterers?

A: No, our caterers are completely optional. If you would like to prepare food yourself, you must have at least one person with an up to date copy of the AHS Food Safe course.
