Meal Services

We partner with a local caterer call Remi’s Catering in Red Deer for our own meals, and provide them as an option for our renters. However, you are free to use whichever caterer you wish. With Remi’s Each Meal is optional, and Meal Service is optional.

Please note that delivery charges may apply.

Meal services for Rentals includes: real plates and silverware in folded napkins, table linen for on the buffet, professional staff, clearing off the tables after dinner and dessert, condiments, and garbage removal.

If you opt out of our meal services and wish to make your own food, you must have a qualified cook with the Food Safe Certification from Alberta Health Services in the kitchen at all times meals are prepared. If you need more information about this contact us at: [email protected]

*Please note that we are required to have a qualified lifeguard with up to date certification on the beach at all times while people are in the lake. This applies for both swimming and canoeing. You may use your own lifeguard given that their certification is up to date.

**Dogs must be kept on a leash and in control at all times. You are responsible for picking up after your dog and properly disposing of their waste.

***All buildings and rooms must be returned to us clean and how you found them (we provide the supplies and the instructions) in order to avoid a cleaning charge.

Please let the Rental Coordinator know if you require a lifeguard, and what times you require them for.

Insurance

We require any group that rents Camp Kannawin to have a group/event insurance policy.

If you have your own group/event insurance policy, you must send a copy of it to the Facility Manager before your rental for our records.

If you do not have a group/event insurance policy, you may apply for a temporary event insurance policy for the duration of your rental from your existing insurance company. Contact them for further details.

If your insurance company cannot provide event insurance, there are many different options available. You can apply for this from companies such as Duuo by The Co-operators or Alberta Motor Association. Please visit the links below for more information from these companies.

Please ensure that you request insurance in reasonable amount time before your rental to ensure you receive the policy in time. Failure to provide a policy may result in termination of rental.

Deposits

To secure your rental at Camp Kannawin, two deposits are required:

  1. Booking Fee: A $100 booking fee is required to reserve your dates. This fee covers the time spent discussing details, touring the site, and other preparatory work. Please note that the booking fee is non-refundable in case of cancellation, as outlined in the cancellation policy. If the booking fee is not received within a specified time frame, the rental dates may be offered to other interested parties on a first come, first paid basis. Note that this fee will not be applied to the final invoice.
  2. Damage Deposit: A $1,000 damage deposit is required one week before your booking. This deposit can be paid via cheque, e-transfer, or online credit card payment. The deposit must be received in advance to allow time for the funds to clear.

Payment Schedule:

  1. Initial Booking: To confirm your reservation, pay the $100 booking fee.
  2. Three Months Before Your Event: We will contact you for an estimate of the number of attendees. Based on this estimate, we will provide a quote and request 15% of the quoted amount.
  3. One Month Before Your Event: We will request an additional 10% of the quote, bringing the total to 25% of the quoted amount. This amount will be deducted from your final invoice.
  4. After Your Event: Payment is due 2 weeks after your event has been completed. It is payable by cheque, Interac E-Transfer, Debit/Credit, or Bank Transfer.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Up to Three Months Before Your Event: The $100 booking fee will be retained.
  • Between Three and One Month Before Your Event: The $100 booking fee plus the 15% of the quote will be retained.
  • Less Than One Month Before Your Event: The $100 booking fee plus the total 25% of the quote will be retained.

Damage Deposit:

One week before your event, we will request a $1,000 damage deposit, which will be held until after we inspect the property. If no damages are found and the facility is left clean, the deposit will be credited toward your final bill. If damages or cleaning fees are incurred, the amount will be deducted from the deposit, and any remaining balance will be applied to your final bill. Please note that any required cleaning will be considered damage and will incur a minimum charge of $250. If damages, including cleaning, exceed the deposit, the additional cost will be added to your final invoice. Unpaid damage charges will result in legal action.

Camp Kannawin is not liable for any injuries, damages, or accidents that occur on the property during the rental period.

Terms and Conditions

Camp Kannawin is a dry site, any Alcohol, Marijuana, Cigarettes, or E-Cigarettes are prohibited.

These rates includes the use of the whole site for your group including the kitchen if you need it. If you do require the kitchen an AHS Food Safe course is needed.  

If you have to cancel your booking, your booking fee and deposit will not be refunded. Please give us at least 4 weeks notice if you have to cancel. This allows us time to re book your rental with another group

There is also a $1000 Refundable Damage Deposit Fee required before arrival. This will not be refunded if there are any damages to the property after the rental.

Please adhere to all local bylaws, including those regarding noise, fire bans, fire code, and any other relevant laws. If your group violates any of these regulations and Camp Kannawin is fined as a result, the fine will be passed on to your group.
